As the school year draws to a close in Puerto Vallarta, the board members from Children’s Shelter of Hope Foundation must shift gears quickly and begin gathering funds for the next school year, which starts in mid-August.

Children’s Shelter of Hope Foundation is happy to announce that we are once again expanding our efforts and support of children in need in the Puerto Vallarta area. Effective immediately we are reinstating our monthly donations to Pasitos de Luz by paying the salary for one of their special education teachers. We have recently been inundated with requests for support through the Sendero’ SOS (Sponsor One Student) educational scholarship program. The Sendero Board of Directors each year identifies motivated, dedicated, and serious students in the Bay of Banderas area, enrolled in secondario (middle school), prepa (high school) or a university program, but who are in danger of dropping out of school for financial reasons. We are very happy to introduce you to our newest board member, Al Tomaselli. Al, and his lovely wife, Joanne, have lived in Portsmouth, New Hampshire for 12 year; however they wisely choose to spend the winter months in Puerto Vallarta where they have a wonderful condo at Bay View Grand in the Marina area. Al has 4 grown children and 4 grandchildren. He retired 12 years ago from a successful but intensive, 7 day per week career in his family’s floral business. Joanne was an elementary school teacher for many years.
